Ms. Amy Blair
Founder and CEO of The Batik Boutique

Amy Blair is the Founder and CEO of The Batik Boutique.

The Batik Boutique uses hand-dyed textiles to impact the community in Malaysia.  As a social enterprise, The Batik Boutique makes a difference in people’s lives by:

Producing Hand-dyed Textiles: Incorporating textiles hand-dyed by local artisans.
Empowering Women: Training single moms in, those struggling to make ends meet, and others seeking financial opportunity for their sewing skills.Benefitting the Community: Contributing to the practical needs of those around them and giving a portion of proceeds directly to artisan needs.

To date, there are over 50 artisans including batik producers and seamstresses trained. This year, Amy also started their first sewing training centre located in government subsidised housing to train more women in sewing and life skills while working hard to create sustainable working opportunities.

Additionally, Amy led her team in corporate projects with companies like Volvo, BP, and Malaysia Airports. She worked to establish an international partnership with a popular U.S. brand, establishing The Batik Boutique as one of the few Malaysian batik companies to manufacture for international labels. Most recently, she launched a collaboration with Yuna, an internationally renowned music artist from Malaysia.

Amy was selected as “Top 50 Expatriates You Should Know” by the Expatriate Lifestyle magazine and featured in publications such as Her World, The Star, New Straights Time, and Malaysia Women’s Weekly.  She appeared on Bella and BFM Radio.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University in Speech Communications with a minor in Tourism Management, and lives in Kuala Lumpur with her husband and two boys.

Her life motto is: “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” ~John Wesley, Theologian
